Peer Play

Purpose:
Meet with families in age-appropriate activity spaces to help children and families engage in peer interactions with confidence.

​Why?
​
Various facilities offer open play areas and opportunities for little ones to come and enjoy. Empowering Communicators, LLC is offering sessions to families who want to help their child play, interact, and engage with peers in environments outside the home. Family will be accompanied by a Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) to help prompt and guide on ways to communicate and play with others in the facility.
Where?
​
- Parks, indoor playgrounds, libraries, children’s museums, bounce areas, etc.
- Empowering Communicators, LLC has a list of toured facilities that offer open play times
- Facility requests by family are open to discussion

​Family/Caregiver is Responsible for:
​
- being present and active participants throughout the session
- their own transportation to and from determined facility
- payment of any other family members or friends brought to the play session
- bringing or acquiring any needed supplies at facility (i.e., socks, drinks, sunscreen, shoes)
- completion of any waivers presented at the facility
- compliance to policies of the facility
​
Peer interaction is limited by other individuals in the facility at the time of the session.
